Our Pastor
Evangelist Harriet M. Hightower is the founder and CEO of River of Life Ministries of East Texas, Inc., Henderson, Texas, which she founded with her late husband, John H. Hightower, in April 1995. The ministry's focus is on teaching the practical application of the Word of God that men and women may be equipped to better serve Jesus Christ as witnesses in their everyday walk and throughout the world. Through teaching a Thursday Night Bible Class she has been a mentor to ministers, teachers, and laypersons. Many souls have been saved, filled with the Holy Ghost and delivered as a result of this weekly bible class. She previously served eight years as President of Christian Women's Auxillary and ten years as Administrative Assistant to the senior Pastor of Bethel Temple of Longview. She also serves as a Christian Counselor, Certified Anger Management Facilitator and Southwest Regional Director of the Interdenominational Christian's Women's Fellowship. She is an accomplished soloist who in 1981, co-produced and recorded her first solo album entitled "I've Got to Tell It." Her God-given musical gift has afforded her the opportunity to be one of the featured artist on many albums produced by choirs as well as serving as a Music Clinician at music workshops in Los Angeles, California and Columbus, Ohio teaching courses such as "Music and the Word," "Choir Decorum," etc. She has also traveled throughout the United States and the United Kingdom (Birmingham, England) leading seminars on spiritual growth, overcoming hurt, maturing as a Christian and many more.

In 2008 she received a great call to pastor and in January 2009 she established and became Pastor of River of Life Ministries Church.

Evangelist Hightower matriculated at Franklin Universiy and St. Mary's of the Springs Women's College in Columbus, Ohio. Aenon Bible College in Los Angeles, California and LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Many view Evangelist Hightower as being energetic, inspiring, informative, pragmatic, and challenging. She is the widow of Deacon John H. Hightower and the mother of two daughters and grandmother of two grandchildren.

Evangelist Hightower has been saved for over 35 years and her favorite scriptures are Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth" and Acts 26:22a, "Having therfore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day..."
